Wiring

No pin has a fixed job in DroidFX. You wire each part to a free pin, then tell the board which is which, in the setup wizard or on Pin Assignment.

Part Wires Role on Pin Assignment
S.BUS receiver Its S.BUS signal wire SBUS → SBUS RX
Sound module Its RX and TX, crossed over Audio → TX -> module RX and RX <- module TX
PCA9685 servo driver SDA and SCL Servo → SDA (I2C data) and SCL (I2C clock)
Lights One pin per light: a plain LED (or a MOSFET driving several), or the data line of a NeoPixel chain LED → LED 1 to LED 10
WiFi switch From GPIO1 to GND None: it’s always GPIO1

The setup wizard suggests a free, safe pin for each part, and lists only pins that can do that job.

The Pin Assignment page draws the board’s two pin headers in their real order. Pick a role, then tap the pin it’s wired to.

  • LED pins apply as soon as you save, NeoPixel ones included.
  • S.BUS, audio and servo pins take effect at start-up: save, then restart before testing.
  • GPIO1 is reserved for the WiFi switch and can’t take any other role.
  • GPIO46 is input-only and can’t drive anything.
  • GPIO0 is the BOOT button, and doubles as the WiFi override: anything wired to it that pulls it low just after start-up turns WiFi on.
  • These work but are flagged as risky: GPIO0, GPIO3 and GPIO45 (they decide how the chip starts), GPIO43 / GPIO44 (the USB serial console, which you lose), and GPIO19 / GPIO20 (native USB).

Wire a switch from GPIO1 to GND. Open (the default) means WiFi stays off; closed means WiFi starts. It’s read once, at power-up, so flipping it while you’re connected won’t cut you off. No switch yet? Power up, then hold BOOT for 3 seconds. See System, WiFi & password.

Once the receiver is wired and its pin set (and the board restarted), open R/C Monitor and move a stick: one bar should follow it. If nothing moves, see Troubleshooting.
